How to Use A Sketch – Part III

On Wednesday and Friday I showed you how to use a sketch to make a card.
Today, I am going to show you how to use a sketch but not every piece of it. Know what I mean? Take a look at the sketch.
It has lots of layers. It has a big circle. Big square.

This card took the basic, basic outline and didn’t include the entire sketch.
To get started, I actually saw a picture in the Pottery Barn catalog hanging on a wall. Love Pottery Barn, do you? As a little side note, did you know they will come do a free design consultation at your house no strings attached? Oh yeah, I’ve done it. It’s awesome.
Anyway I saw this picture and wanted to use those same colors. The picture was hanging on an office and with a gray wall and it had white cherry blossoms on a beige background.

So I started this card with smoky slate cardstock layered whisper white and then crumb cake on top.
I stamped the tree in crumb cake ink. the leaves were stamped in VersaMark ink and then he embarks using the white embossing powder and heat tool.

Next, I punched out a couple of flowers using the itty bitty accents punch back. Those punches adorable? Adhere them using the dots and had some rhinestones.
I use the strip shown right hand side of the sketch for my sentiment.
Then, stamped it in basic Grey ink. The new archival ink and basic Grey takes a little bit longer to dry, so just be aware that to touch it right after you stamp it.

This is the inside of the card.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed this series on how to use a sketch. I would love to see some of your ideas for this sketch on my Facebook page!*March Hostess Code: B7FYYJHH

I love how you used the picture as your inspiration! Great use of neutral colors, a very calm & soothing creation and yet still springy with the flowering tree! Thanks for sharing this and playing with us at the Players this week!
