Technique: Creating a Congratulations Card Using Reverse Embossing

As my nephew would say- WHAT THE WORLD is Reverse Embossing?  Yes, he leaves out the “in” in that sentence.  It’s so cute.

Reverse embossing is when you heat emboss with a clear embossing powder, and then go over it with ink.  Let me show you.

Okay, take a gander at this picture below.  Here’s what I did.  I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Versamark ink.  Then I used clear embossing powder to heat set it.  If you have never heat embossed before, you can see a video on that here.

Next, I filled up my Aquapainter with water, dipped it in Pool Party ink and then rubbed it over my image until it was the color I wanted.

Finally, I used a paper towel to rub off any ink left on top of the embossing.  This was the result.

Pretty darn cool, wouldn’t you say?

Once that was dry, I punched out some random circles with different card stock and attached them to the card.  Simple and adorable.  Hey- that’s me.

Although, my husband may not agree that I am “simple”.  ha ha…  that’s a story for another day
