Succulent Garden floral paper Stampin’ Up! card

By | March 12, 2017

Succulent Garden floral paper Stampin’ Up! card

Some of you may already know this, but I am not a “floral” card person.  Very rarely do I make cards with flowers.  I am more of a modern, bright colors and trendy card kinda girl.  And… I don’t like a lot of “stuff” on my cards.  So when I sat down to re-create this card from the Spring Occasions catalog, it came as a surprise to me- ha ha.  Isn’t it fun when you can surprise yourself?  Anyway- the Succulent Garden floral paper was just calling to me.  It screams spring and I luuuuuv the colors!

Succulent Garden floral paper Stampin' Up! card

Succulent Garden floral paper Stampin' Up! card

At first glance you may think that 2 different colors were used on these flowers.  But not so… to get this super cool look, you would ink the inside of the flower first, stamp on scrap paper, and THEN stamp onto your white cardstock.  Then, ink up the stamped outline of the flower and stamp down directly on top of that.  This gives it the darker outline color without having to use 2 different ink pads.  Cool yes?

This card is super cute and you can see the original in the catalog as I mentioned at the top of this post.  If you don’t have a catalog or demonstrator yet, send me an email and I’d be happy to get one out to you!  Free of charge 🙂

Below are all the products I used in this card.  Keep an eye out for a new class coming using all of these gorgeous products!

Dragonfly Dreams

By | March 10, 2017

Dragonfly Dreams

In this elegant project, I’ve used the classic colors of gold and black to really showcase the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.

Dragonfly Dreams

This is a very popular bundle (both the stamp set and the die cuts) and will be continued over into the new catalog.  This is great news because it means we can create lots more cards and projects to show you! Yay!

Okay, so  this card starts out by stamping the Dragonfly and the decorative dots in Versamark, adding some gold embossing powder and heat setting it with a heat tool.  For more projects using the heat tool, click here.

Dragonfly Dreams

Then, cut out the Dragonfly on the Big Shot machine using the matching framelits and black cardstock.  Glue the Dragonfly down on top of the gold embossed Dragonfly using glue dots.  I would just put the flue on the main part of the Dragonfly’s body so it doesn’t get all gunky.  (Yes, that’s my technical term, ha ha)

Work of Art

By | March 6, 2017

Work of Art

This card ended up looking a bit like the American flag in a way but it certainly wasn’t what I was shooting for- a happy surprise.  Work of Art is a super versatile stamp set and I bet you’ll be surprised that I only used a few inks to make this.

Work of Art

So how did I create it?  Well, to begin with, I stamped on the Very Vanilla cardstock first.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up.  I have no reason as to why I didn’t go top to bottom- I’m weird like that sometimes, ha ha.

I stamped the image in Bermuda Bay and then without cleaning or re-inking the stamp, I stamped 2 more times above it.  Then, I switched to Real Red and did the same thing.  It’s a miracle that it was spaced evenly because I honestly didn’t do anything to make it that way.  I’m an “eyeball it” kind of girl.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then heat set with White Emboss powder and a heat tool.  I cut it out using the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.

The Builder Owl Punch is how I got the cute little flowers and then I finished it off with rhinestones, ribbon and enamel dots.  For the full supply list, you can scroll down.

Glamper Greetings

By | March 5, 2017

Glamper Greetings

Today I’ve got this super fun camping card using a stamp set that was carried over from the Holiday 2016 catalog.  Glamper Greetings is one of the sets that I set my eye on when I first saw the Christmas catalog and I’m so psyched it carried over.  The stamps in this set are just adorable for all year long!  To see a close up of this set, click on the thumbnail image of it below.

Glamper Greetings

I bet you think this paper didn’t come from Stampin’ Up! but you’d be wrong.  It’s called Irresistibly Floral and it comes pre-embossed and white.  So, I took out a sponge and some Night of Navy Ink.  I soaked up some ink into the sponge and started to rub the sponge in circles on a scrap paper underneath this one and then dragged the sponge onto this paper.  I did it this way because it eliminates any ink lines that can happen or big splotches when you start fresh on the paper.

Glamper Greetings

I went heavier on the sponging around the edges and left the middle lighter.  Once I was done, I wiped the cardstock off with a tissue because the ink was covering the embossed circles.

I colored and cut the camper out with scissors and the grass as well.  The clouds came from the Up & Away Thinlits dies.  Those are popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To color the camper, I picked up ink with a blender pen from the ink pad lids.

Glamper Greetings

The finishing touch was adding this sentiment with some Enamel Dots on each side.  Below are all the supplies I used.

Foxy Friends

Today I’m going to show you a bunch of projects made with the Foxy Friends stamp set and coordinating Fox builder punch.  This was a “Thursday Theater” episode.  Check in with me on Facebook, Thursdays at 11 a.m. EST to see the latest project I’m working on!

Foxy Friends

So I began by showing y’all a bunch of projects below.  You can see the video in it’s entirety at the bottom of this post.  The audio is a bit messy because of some high winds we had that day interfering with our Wi-Fi so I apologize for that.

The picture above showcases just SOME of the animals you can make with this adorable bundle.  If you need help figuring out how to re-create one of these cute critters, contact me and I’ll be happy to help!  In the video, I go over the regular fox, a Bunny, Lion and Koala.

Jar of Love

By | March 1, 2017

Jar of Love

Today’s project features the stamp set “Jar of Love” by Stampin’ Up!  I was in the mood for a spring card when I saw a painting of some really vivid colors down below.

Jar of Love

color combinations

So pretty right?  So I took out my ink pads to match them up and start creating.  By the way- I share these color combinations on my Facebook page weekly so you can play along too.

Jar of Love

I ended up stamping tons of flowers.  I did that for a few reasons- the first being that I could use the ones I thought looked the best.  (like there’s much difference, ha ha) and then also so I could have a stash of extra put away for the next time I want to use these flowers.  Neat right?

It’s sort of hard to tell, but I ended up heat embossing the jars using Versamark ink, Clear embossing powder and a heat tool.  So- when the card hits the light the right way, the jars look shiny.

Jar of Love

Now, don’t go thinking I cut all this stuff out with scissors. HECK no- I used the matching framelits to line it all up and cut.  I also used my favorite framelits of all time (Stitched Shapes) to cut out the sentiment.  Oh my word- how stinking cute are these cut outs with the stitching around the edge.  LOVE THEM!

Jar of Love

One last little touch was to add an enamel shape above the sentiment.  Adorbs.  Those little shapes don’t get nearly the attention they deserve.

Hey, Chick!

By | February 21, 2017

Hey, Chick!

Welcome to today’s project featuring THE most popular stamp set in the Sale-A-Bration 2017 brochure, Hey, Chick!  I took the card from the brochure and changed it up a bit.

Hey, Chick

Hey, Chick

To start with, I embossed the Pool Party cardstock with the large Polka Dots.

Then, after rubbing the Black cardstock with an Embossing Buddy to remove all the static, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink so that I could heat emboss white powder on top.  Now, take a look- I stamped the sentiment 3 times.  See how differently each image looks?  The first one was the bottom one.  It was just inked up.  The top one was the last and I think it came out the best.  So I heat embossed all three and picked the best one for the card.  I just threw the extra’s into the stamp case to use for a different project someday.

Hey, Chick

Next, I decided to color the image with Blender Pens and my ink pad.  If you’ve never done this before- it’s AWESOME.  Basically, you squeeze the ink pad so that the ink gets onto the lid of the ink.  Then just take your marker and swirl it around in the ink.  As you color your image, the ink will get lighter and lighter.  To get the remainder of the ink off, just rub it on scrap paper until it’s clear.

Hey, Chick

Hey, Chick

The last bit of coloring I did was to go around the edge of the chicken with barely any ink on it at all.  I also made it look like he/she was standing on a surface as opposed to just floating in mid air.  I like to do this to give the images some more definition.

Hey, Chick

Once I had decided where to put the sentiment, I realized that because I used the foam Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the chicken up and off the card, I needed to do it with part of the sentiment.  So, I put a dimensional on one side and regular adhesive on the other.  This was so that the cardstock that was hanging off the edge of the chicken didn’t fall flat.  It was all the same height.

Modern Thank You Card

Modern Thank You Card

Today I’ve got a modern thank you card for you, using the Lift Me Up stamp set and Gorgeous Grunge.  Bet you never thought you’d see these two together?Modern Thank You Card

You can see all the supplies listed below, but mainly what I want you to focus on is the “splotches” for lack of a better word 🙂  When I was creating this card, I didn’t have the chance to purchase the paper I wanted, so I tried to re-create it.  I used Basic Gray ink and stamped on top of the Crumb Cake cardstock to make it more of a modern thank you card.

They are 2 totally separate pieces of cardstock with different stamps on them.  Take a look below.

Modern Thank You Card

See how each background piece has a different stamped image?  All from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  This is a great set because you can use it for SO many different types of cards and backgrounds.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this card… your style or no?

Dragonfly Dreams Gift Box

By | February 17, 2017

Dragonfly Dreams Gift Box

Hi Friends.  Today I want to share this adorable project with you using the new stamp set from the Spring Occasions catalog called “Dragonfly Dreams“.  I created these super simple boxes just using a few pieces of cardstock, my Stampin Trimmer and stamps/ink!  If you don’t have a catalog yet or a Demonstrator, please email me so I can send you one.Dragonfly Dreams

The larger box measures 8 x 8″ for the bottom piece and 8 1/8″ x 8 1/8″ for the top.  The bottom cardstock is Rich Razzleberry and the top is Whisper White.  In hindsight, I probably would have used Very Vanilla instead because the color is more rich- but it’s still a super cute project don’t you think?

To begin with, you are going to use the matching ink and stamp the Dragonfly randomly on the White cardstock.  The stamp set has so many beautiful stamps as well as a matching die cut!

Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams

Okay, it’s so simple to create this, you are going to LOVE it.  Here it is.  Score 1″ on all sides of your cardstock.    That’s it.  No, seriously!!  Cut a slit on each corner so that you can fold up and glue the sides together to form the box lid and bottom.

Do the same thing with the top, but score the cardstock at 1/2″ and then again at 1″.  This way, you fold in the 1/2″ to reinforce the lid, and it is also a smidgen smaller than the bottom so that the bottom cardstock shows through.

Then, you can go ahead and do this with ANY SIZE paper you like.  Here is a smaller version of the same box:

Quilted Cards

Quilted Cards

Hi Friends.  Every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. EST, I am on Facebook LIVE to do a new project with you. This week I wanted to do Quilted Cards and I had to move it to Friday because we had  a snow storm and then my kids had a 2 hour delay getting on the bus the next day and my washing machine broke and it was chaos.  Ya- just a typical day in the Carter household 🙂

Quilted Cards

Of course, I am using ALL Stampin’ Up products to make these quilted cards.  It’s a great way to use up your scraps without having to spend more money!  You can see the video below as to how we created these cards.

Balloon Adventures

By | February 8, 2017

Balloon Adventures

Hi everyone. Today I’m sharing a project created with the new stamp set, Balloon Adventures!  I saw a similar one posted online (I apologize for not writing down the originator) and wanted to re-create it.

Balloon Adventures

What I was drawn to on this card was the background.  It’s so smart, don’t you think?  Using the stamp to create an entire background.  I’ve done this before with other stamps, but not usually using an entire layer like this 4 x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White.

If you look, below, you can see a close up of the balloons.  I started in the middle and worked my way to each side from there.  I didn’t use a ruler or anything, but you could if you wanted it to be exact.  Or even a post-it note would work too!

Balloon Adventures

Imagine the possibilities with colors on this card…. You could easily stamp out a ton of these cards in in so many color combinations.  If you have trouble putting colors together on your own, make sure you check out my facebook page where I post weekly color combination inspirations like the one I have here:
