Make Your Own Soccer Ball Card
In today’s card, I am going to show you how to create your own soccer ball Card.
The idea for this card came from a sketch and my Godsons birthday.
He is a soccer nut, but we don’t really offer that much from Stampin Up in the way of soccer.
I knew I wanted to use the stamp set called Simply Sports, but it wasn’t enough. I needed the card to pop.
So I started with this sketch over at Mojo Monday.
I tried to figure out how I could create a soccer ball.
I started by punching out whisper white card stock using my 2″ circle punch.
Of course, just a round white circle isn’t gonna looked like a soccer ball is it?
But, lucky for us, we have the honeycomb embossing folder.
So I threw that circle into the embossing folder and ran the big shot machine.
This is cool, I thought. But now it looks like a volleyball. Oy vey!
I briefly thought about coloring in some of the spaces with a black marker. And while I love coloring, I’m not good at staying in the lines. Just ask my husband about that since I just painted the dining room. Ha ha.
So I ran a scrap piece of basic black cardstock through the embossing folder next, and cut out a few hexagons with my scissors. I glued them on top of the spaces on the ball and line them up.
Once my soccer ball was complete, the rest fell into place.
You’ll notice that I stamped the soccer player on the inside of the card as well. I hope he likes it. Happy birthday sport.
