An Ocean-themed Sympathy Card

2016-02-01 10.36.23

Hi everyone!  Today’s project features two stamp sets, By the Tide and Thoughts & Prayers.  I created this card in a couple of ways.  First, I started with the Monday challenge over at MOJO Monday.  Then I chose my stamp set.  I wanted to do something besides Valentines Day.  Yeah- I’m not a lovey, dovey, PDA type of gal.  Sorry.  My hubby and I celebrate our anniversary and birthdays, just not “V” day.  Plus, I figured everybody would be making Valentines Day cards so I just wanted to be different. What can I say- I’m a REBEL!

Pinterest-001Okay, so once I had the sketch for the card from the challenge site and the stamp set, I had to choose what type of card I wanted it to be.  Unfortunately, my cousin lost a loved one this week, so I decided to create a sympathy card.

To begin with, I usually cut the cardstock layers in 1/4″ increments and this was no exception.  The base of the card is Pool Party cardstock and the layer on top of that is Bermuda Bay.  All the products I used, are pasted below for your convenience.  If you want to read more about them or purchase, just click on the picture.

So the Bermuda Bay layer was embossed in the Big Shot machine using the Mosaic folder.  I really wanted to use the large polka dot folder, but I can’t find it!  It’s driving me nuts!!!!  The Whisper White Layer is 3 3/4″ square.

The pool party is 3 1/2″ square.  I stamped Pool Party Ink onto the Pool Party cardstock with the coral stamp.  Then I used the embossing buddy and rubbed the paper down to get rid of any static or fingerprints.. stuff like that.

Once the layer was cleaned off with the embossing Buddy, I stamped the cleaned off coral stamp with some Versarmark ink.  I heat embossed the Gold Embossing Powder to create the shiny, 3D texture.

The shell at the bottom was also heat embossed and I cut it out using my scissors.  Then, I just popped it up on some dimensionals.

This is amazing…Love the color you chose and that embossing in gold is gorgeous. So blessed you joined our bi-weekly Challenge at Word Art Wednesday and hope you join us again for a new Challenge that started yesterday. Leaving you with the inspiration of God’s Word in Isaiah 40:8 which tells us, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”

    Have a blessed week,
