Welcome! This week I want to share a card with you that I think is so cute. The funny part about it is, I didn’t like this paper at all when I first saw it. The word HATE is a strong word, so we’ll just stick with…I really didn’t like it. But I decided to start my week with another challenge and these colors were part of it. I also had broken out my “Jolly Friends” stamp set yet and I thought- what the heck… let’s use up some of this paper!!!
Well, wasn’t I surprised!!!! Okay, like I said I started with a challenge. I took a sketch from here and a color challenge from here. I realized that lately I haven’t been thinking outside the box as far as different folds for my cards so I’m going to start trying to do that. Rather than cut the card base at the usual 8 1/2″ long, I trimmed it down to 8″. I still made the score line 4 1/4″. That way it left a little bit of space on the right-hand side. Just for a different effect.
I gathered up all my awesome tools and got to work. The first thing I knew I absolutely had to start with was the Stitched Shapes Framelits. OH my Lord! These are the best things Stampin’ Up! has come out with in years. Am not kidding. I absolutely love these things to death. Look at how flipping cute the stitching is? Love love love love it. All you do is run it through the Big Shot machine in the same way you do with all the other framelits and it puts the stitching on there for you. LOVE!
Now I’ve got to talk to a little bit about the sentiment. I have a love/hate relationship with the White Craft Ink. I love that we can stamp white on a darker cardstock. I don’t love how long it takes to dry. So because I have zero patience, I threw some white embossing powder over it and used my heat tool. This made sure to capture any of the ink that was still wet and then heat-set it so that it was dry to the touch. That’s why the sentiment looks brighter in some parts and shinier and others. It’s a pretty cool effect don’tcha think? Now if I wanted it all to be uniform, for lack of a better word, I could’ve let this dry or just kept heating it with the heat tool. Like I told you earlier, mama doesn’t have any patience.
Everything else is pretty self-explanatory. If you want to check out what I’m talking about for the new framelits, scroll down below. This is an early bird special. This means that they are available in the month of November and then won’t be available again until the new catalog comes out in June. So if you are as in love with them as I am, don’t wait. Grab them now.
