Why was I singing Lionel Richie after I made this card?

By | October 28, 2015

Hello!?  Hello?  Is it me you’re looking for?

lionel_richieIf you are under 40, you probably don’t get what I’m saying here so all I have to say to that is

“Lionel Richie”.

Moving on..

I’ve been doing a lot of fall projects and getting started with Christmas projects, that I wanted to take a quick day off from those because REALLY- I think Walmart has already made most of us sick of it now.  So let’s switch gears and show you this cool technique!DSC00214-001

How did I make this fun background?  Well, it was a little embossing and a little spritzing.  First, I ran my Whisper White Cardstock through my trusty Big Shot Machine to get this honeycomb embossed look.  Then, I took out my Brayer tool and inked it up with Versamark ink.

I lightly went over the raised part of the paper with the Brayer so that just the raised edges of the paper were inked up.  Then, I covered the paper with White Embossing Powder.  I shook off the extra powder and put it back into it’s home (container) and heat set it with my heat tool.  Did anyone see the picture I put up on my Facebook page of my 9 year old hijacking that tool?

Next up, I added some ink and rubbing alcohol to my spritzers.  I used Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo. (You could use water in your spritzer instead of alcohol, it just takes longer to dry).  Once I got to the color I wanted, I wiped the entire card with a paper towel.  (This is to get the ink off of the White Embossing and now it will really show up)

I used my handy dandy Big Shot machine again to cut out the “Hello” using our brand new Black Glimmer Cardstock.  LOVE IT!  It’s so sparkly in person, pictures just don’t do it justice.
