Father’s Day Card

By | June 1, 2016

Hey there friends!  The date is June 19th and you are going to need a Father’s Day Card!  Let me help you get started with this handmade, nautical card.

Father's Day Card

I just adore this card.  The colors are “primary” and just scream summer, dad, husband and fireworks to me!  I live in New England so the Boston Pops and fireworks are pretty big around here.

I started by looking for a patterned paper to match the colors I wanted to use and realized (OH MY GOSH) I don’t have any!  THE HORROR!  What’s a girl to do?

Make her own, of course.

There’s not much to this.  I decided on the size of Whisper White cardstock to use and them stamped my anchor in Navy.  Pretty cool right?  By the way, I don’t know how anyone can get by without the Stampin’ Up! white cardstock!!  It’s heavyweight, and ink just POPS off the page.  I would NEVER EVER use another brand.

Now that we’ve got our paper designed, I wanted to add some texture.  That’s where the Big Shot came into play and the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  I didn’t need to emboss the entire card, just the navy strip.

So we needed a focal point, right?  How about another anchor, but in red this time.  I know, I know- I’m wild.  Just can’t contain my crazy!!

Simply punch the anchor out with a circle punch and do the same with the real red cardstock too that’s behind it.  The card is finished off with a stamp in the lower right corner and some white bakers twine.  As we say in New England- it’s “wicked smaht”.

Happy early Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there!
