Today I’m going to show you how to make an explosion box card. Isn’t it stinking cute? I sent this to my niece for her 15th birthday.
To begin making an explosion box card, you’ll need a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock and something to score it with. I scored it at 4″ on all 4 sides and then cut off the outer squares as shown in the diagram below.
This is what the card looked like when I had it all decorated. I used the new paper from Stampin Up called “Pop of Pink”. I love all these colors together for a teenage girl!
Yes, this candle will light up! How cool is that? An explosion box card with a real candle and cake inside!
I know what you’re going to ask me. I’m psychic like that, lol!!!! THE CAKE- how the heck did I make the cake?
Well, I have a Silhouette Cameo machine. It cuts any shape I want. I went into the program on my computer and looked up pop-cup cakes and saw this:
So, I downloaded that little, cutie patootie cake and then had my machine cut it out. Now, it was my FIRST TIME doing this, so it’s not nearly as crisp, clean and perfecto as I would like… but it still came out wicked cute.
The top was really easy.
To make the lid, follow the picture below. The cardstock measure 7 1/8 x 7 1/8. Then, score on all four sides at 1 1/2. Cut along the score line where directed. MAKE SURE you don’t cut off the entire corner like you did for the box. You need these flaps to glue the lid together.
Once you’re all done cutting, you can go ahead and put the box together however you like. Use your own cardstock, ink, stamps and decorations to make it super cute!
