Creative Blog Hop

Hi Stampers!

I’m so excited today!  I was asked by my good friend Donna over at Butternut Sage to be a part of this Creative Blog Hop.  It’s a one time post and I am really honored she asked me.  We could post any project we like and then have to answer some questions below. Oh, the pressure!! ha ha.  But I digress..

Today’s project is straight from the Big Catalog.  Everyone is so focused on Sale-A-Bration and the NEW Spring Catalog, that I wanted to take a step back and remind you of all the goodies in the regular catty.www.angelasinklink.com

To begin with, I used the Crisp Cantaloupe card stock for my base.  I pierced holes around the edges using the Piercing Tool.  I punched out a layer of DSP 2013-14 Paper Stack using the Scallop Edge Punch and adhered that to the top. I added another layer on top of that using the Gold Vellum.

Next, I stamped the sentiment in Craft White Ink and then added White Embossing Powder on top.  I used the Heat tool to set it to give it a little extra oomph. I just love this stamp set.  It’s very vintage and so versatile.

Finally after adding a layer of Whisper White to the inside of the card, I punched out 6 little flowers with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  I adhered them onto the card in pairs and then added the Pearl on top.  The last item was to wrap some Gold Bakers Twine around the card twice and tie a bow.

1. What are you working on now?

Right now I am working on designing my February Class, which will be focused on Sympathy and All-Occasion cards using the following:  “Sheltering Tree” and “Bloom With Hope” stamp set, the Irresistibly Yours DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  In addition, I am going to focus on Watercoloring Techniques.  You can find more info about those classes here.

2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?

I know this term is overused- but clean and simple is for me.  I don’t like a lot of layers or embellishments on my cards.  I like clean lines and everything symmetrical.

3. Why do you create what you do?

Hmm.. this is a tough one because there are so many different reasons why I create.  I love it.  I’m passionate about it.  I love to make things with my hands.  I’ve always been a crafter- whether it was crochet, scrapbooking, wreath making, etc.  Paper crafting is my absolute favorite though and I honestly love to share it with others that feel the same as I do.  Aside from that- I’ve made THE most amazing friends while doing this.  Stampers are one heck of a group and I can’t imagine my life without them in it.

4. How does your creativity work?

Well, for me, I’m not so good with coming up with ideas “out of the box” but I know what I like when I see it.  I’m like that with decorating my home too.  I LOVEEEE Pinterest for that reason.  I see a color combination for clothes and I want to re-create that in a card.  Or I see a great layout or 3D card, but don’t like the colors so I re-create it.  My husband thinks I’m nuts because we will be out to eat at a restaurant and I take a picture of the wall because I think that design would be great on a project.  I need something to start my ideas flowing and then I’m like a wild woman- papers flying, ink all over the place.  It usually turns into a Craftnado!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, and be sure to visit the two blogs I have nominated for next week!  Here they are…..my good friend Marilyn SanClemente at “Stamp With Marilyn” and Joni Metras at “Joni In The Spotlight Stamping”.
